The globalization process that has defined the present state of the world creates new conditions for the broadening of economic relations beyond the confines of national borders. The establishment of trade agreements among governments of different countries has strongly encouraged foreign trade and investment. In the case of Mexico, this opening to trade has materialized in agreements with different governments. Among the most important ones are the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), the Free Trade Agreement with the European Union, the Agreements for Avoiding Double Taxation and those for the Exchange of Information, in addition to other agreements that have already been signed or are about to be signed with other countries in Latin American and Asia. These trade agreements have opened, in our country, wide options for both domestic and foreign investment, evidenced by the interest that business owners of different countries have shown in extending their economic activities to Mexico.
